Inspiring Office Fit-Out for DTRE by K2 Space
Leading property advisor DTRE emerged as one of the UK’s preeminent property developers since its founding in 2010 and has been a client of K2 for more than 5 years. DTRE required a larger office to house their expanding team and business operations. Encompassing an impressive 11,000 sq ft. the move to the new office was seen as an opportunity to create a dynamic and welcoming office space that their staff would want to return to, as well as one that clients could visit and work from.
With sustainability at the core of the project, our team achieved a BREEAM “VERY GOOD” accreditation for DTRE – the highest achievable for this building. We achieved this through meticulously monitoring energy, water, waste, and the supply chain throughout the design and build project.
A New Space with Greater Flexibility and Wellbeing
The brief was to create an inspirational space for staff and to provide visiting clients with a touch-down space and a welcoming environment. Flexibility, inclusivity, and well-being would be at the heart of the design. The new facility would include a coffee bar, Gym & Peloton studio, an auditorium, and a restaurant, to be enjoyed by staff and clients.
The space included a client entertainment area, meeting zones with bleacher seating, and extensive biophilic elements, promoting staff well-being. It also featured a barista-style reception that doubled as a check-in area, an adjacent client “touch-down” area for clients and staff to work from, an event space with versatile bleacher seating, an on-site gym area, and a private dining area with retractable Crittall glass doors that could be opened up into the wider area when unused. All these features played a crucial role in encouraging the return of staff to the office and enhancing client-staff interactions.

BREEAM Accreditation and Environmental Impact
Reducing environmental impact is core to DTRE’s values and so a requirement to achieve BREEAM accreditation to the highest possible level was required – we achieved “Very Good” the highest level attainable in this building.

The results
The construction programme was 16 weeks under a JCT contract and working with an independent PM. The results speak for themselves with a near 100% of staff back at the office
