Industrial Heritage Meets Creative Energy

Dentsu’s London workspace was designed to feel energetic, collaborative, and unmistakably modern, while keeping the honest character of the building on show. Exposed structure, open ceilings, and bold feature lighting created a raw industrial backdrop, balanced with warm timber, soft furnishings, and carefully zoned settings for different ways of working.

The result is a workplace that supports high-performing teams, reflects Dentsu’s creative culture, and gives people a genuine reason to come together in the office.

Open Plan Collaboration

The Stamp Office presented a dramatic canvas: black-painted exposed steelwork, riveted columns, and visible ductwork set against generous Georgian windows. Rather than concealing these features, we chose to celebrate them as defining characteristics of the space.

Sculptural ring pendant lights float beneath the exposed ceiling services, creating a striking visual rhythm throughout the floor plate. The lighting scheme draws the eye upward, emphasising the building’s impressive volume while providing warm, even illumination across the workspace. Herringbone timber flooring and carefully zoned carpet tiles bring warmth underfoot, softening the industrial palette and defining different work settings.

A Workplace Designed for Flexibility

The open plan workspace accommodates a variety of working styles through a considered mix of settings. Clusters of task seating in chartreuse upholstery provide energetic, collaborative desk neighbourhoods, while quiet focus zones offer retreats for concentrated work.

Glass-fronted meeting pods with cork and acoustic felt interiors provide acoustically controlled spaces for small group collaboration without breaking the visual flow of the space. Their dark timber frames echo the building’s structural steelwork, while warm terracotta-toned internal panels create an inviting contrast.

Timber-framed huddle booths with terracotta banquette seating and integrated work surfaces offer semi-private touchdown spaces for quick conversations or individual tasks. Their slatted canopy design provides visual shelter while maintaining connection to the surrounding environment.

Mezzanine Breakout and All-Hands Space

The mezzanine level hosts a generous breakout area that doubles as an all-hands meeting space. We specified a sweeping curved banquette in cream bouclé upholstery wrapping around the corner beneath tall Georgian windows, paired with terrazzo-topped side tables on fluted bases. Tan leather lounge chairs and cork accent stools create intimate conversation groupings.

The adjacent boardroom features reconfigurable tables arranged in a U-shape configuration, seating up to twenty on timber-framed chairs with tan leather seats. A dramatic circular planting feature with integrated LED lighting hangs overhead, bringing abundant greenery into the space and creating a memorable setting for company gatherings and client presentations.

Distinctive Breakout Features

A standout element of the breakout area is the arched timber booths we designed with ribbed timber surrounds, framing, and acoustic interiors. Tan leather banquette seating and simple worktops create intimate four-person meeting settings perfect for informal discussions or focused collaboration. The arched form references classical architectural motifs while the material palette keeps the aesthetic firmly contemporary.

Throughout the floor plate, we introduced single-person phone booths in birch plywood that bring pops of bold colour into the workspace—deep magenta and vibrant yellow acoustic linings create distinctive, characterful moments. Compact perch seating and integrated power ensure these spaces remain highly functional for calls and video meetings.

Relaxing Social Hubs

This lounge setting was designed as a relaxed alternative to traditional meeting rooms, giving teams a comfortable space for quick catch-ups, casual one-to-ones, and informal client conversations. The curved sofa and soft seating create a welcoming, residential feel, while the layered lighting and warm timber ceiling detail add character without overpowering the room.

Glazed partitions maintain natural light and visibility across the floorplate, keeping the space connected to the wider workplace while still feeling calm, private, and purposefully separated from the main working areas.

Specification, Logistics and Installation

The furniture package drew on a curated selection of leading manufacturers including Herman Miller, Spacestor, NaughtOne, Orangebox, Connection, and Muuto. Every piece was selected to balance aesthetic appeal with durability and functionality appropriate for a busy creative agency environment.

We managed the complete logistics chain including furniture storage, transport to Edinburgh, and professional installation. Working within the constraints of a city-centre heritage building, the installation programme was carefully coordinated to minimise disruption, with the main furniture delivery completed over a focused period.
